Fundación Agreste proposes new ways of combating the global threat of desertification.  Together with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), we are organising projects that will change many people’s lives.

‘The Match Against Desertification’ is a programme that Fundación Agreste developed with the UNCCD.  The project was presented to the Permanent Secretary to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, drought and poverty in 2004. This was the ten year anniversary of the world declaration of the fight against desertification, made by the UN General Assembly.

The ‘Match Against Desertification’ Programme consists of searching for original methods of communication which can educate and sensitise the general public, making them aware of the serious problems that are affecting our planet, as well as raising funds to help communities in need.

The aim of the programme is to carry out all kinds of sporting, cultural and Corporate Social Responsibility events, as well as humanitarian aid work, on a national and international level.  It aims to create a permanent cooperative fund for the fight against desertification, drought and poverty in Argentina and Burkina Faso (Africa).
